Litha Mpiyakhe

Litha Mpiyakhe There's something magical in the way East London based artist and portrait photographer Litha Mpiyakhe captures images. The line between the observer and the observed is often blurred as one almost feels the soul of the subject reflecting back at them.

Inspired by the evolving nature of African culture, through his photography, Litha Mpiyakhe seeks to explore the ways in which music, tradition, fashion, art and modern life influence the ways we in which identities are formed. And as a photographer, multimedia designer and a painter, the quality of his art is almost always nothing short of remarkable. The richness in colour, the texture, the meticulously calculated lighting, and the story in the picture results in life like images that leave the viewer somewhat captured.

Litha Mpiyakhe's work has been featured in over ten exhibitions since 2014, His work also appears on the album cover of Msaki's Zaneliza: How the Water Moves - released in 2016.
