Opera Grants
The Goethe-Institut Australien supports young emerging Australian opera singers in the early status of their musical career. The following programs are supported by a German language course:
The German-Australian Opera Grant includes a one-year junior employment at the Wiesbaden Opera House, as well as a one-month German course at a Goethe-Institut in Germany and a preparatory phase prior to the employment, to gain an insight into the procedures of an opera house. The beneficiary will additionally receive a cheque of over $4500 as financial support for the preparatory phase in Australia and their time overseas. The auditions will take place in Melbourne. The Deutsche Oper Berlin Award will employ the winner as a member of the Deutsche Opera Berlin for a period of ten months. Additionally, this grant covers the costs for a one-month German course at the Goethe-Institut in Berlin, travel expenses and living expenses for one month. The auditions will take place in Sydney.
