Fashion as Social Business

RMIT Gallery, Melbourne

Find out about the way Sina Trinkwalder founded Germany’s social textile business manomama. The business provides training for those that would otherwise have difficulties on the job-market and is known for its horizontal hierarchies as well as its focus on local supply chains and social engagement. How can the textile industry empower its employees, and how can our economies function in a more social way?

Sina Trinkwalder was born in 1978 and studied political science and business in Munich. After dropping out, she worked over 10 years as the CEO of her own advertising agency. In 2010 she founded manomama. For her ecological and social commitment, Sina Trinkwalder has been recognised as the "Social Entrepreneur of Sustainability 2011", and has been awarded the "German Fairness Prize 2015" and the "Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany 2015".
