AUW students, staff, and teachers marched around the block that evening. I was happy that in addition to academic and extracurricular resume-building activities, the university could be the site of expression and progress, like universities around the world. It was easy to see each student as a leader.

The trips I took to the beach, whether Patenga in Chittagong, or further south in Cox’s Bazar, remind me of the generosity of the people who invited, accompanied, or hosted me there. My first trips to each location were with students, as I recall.
