As a memory, many wall-peckers keep "their piece of the Wall". What they just enthusiastically knocked out of the concrete is already capitalized a few seconds later: Professionals dismantle the former state border and sell it in portions to tourists and all those who have forgotten their tools.

In November 1998, a piece of the Wall cost 5 Deutsche Mark.

The Berliner Tagesspiegel reports about a demolition entrepreneur who buys concrete segments of the wall, systematically dismantles them, in case of doubt puts the spray can back on and finally brings them to the market with a "certificate of authenticity" that has not dried up for years. Even today, these souvenirs can still be bought in museum shops - wherever the supplies come from.
