Sport and play are essential for human well-being. Exercise is not only fun, it also has a positive effect on almost every part of the body, mind and soul. Sport makes people happy because it helps the body release hormones and because it strengthens the feeling of being able to master self-defined challenges. Artificial intelligence can actively support athletes in this process, for example by pointing out individual errors and preventing sports accidents, or by helping to improve amateur athletes' performance with personalised training models. However, AI is also increasingly being used in professional sports. With the help of this technology it is possible to record every single action of the game, critically reflect on one's own playing style and analyse one's opponents' tactics, strengths and weaknesses. In short: systems that work with AI are revolutionising the sports sector. In this Couch Lesson we will discuss how athletes can use AI to improve their performance and what happens when AI invents a new sport.
