Alumni-Work

Training and guiding our alumni: those are the major aspirations of “Schools without Violence”, a project that provides continuing support to alumni who now work as trainers. Our goal is to ensure that the knowledge they share with others in numerous workshops and training sessions has a far-reaching and long-lasting impact in Egypt. Simultaneously, we aim to strengthen civic participation through networking activities and active involvement of citizens.

The goal of both our ‘Fit or Life’ social trainings for school psychologists, social workers and department heads as well as our workshops for non-violent education through sports is to convey modern and non-violent educational methods and tools in order to create a safe learning environment in schools.

In both project components, the participants are trained to become trainers and therefore empowered to use their newly acquired knowledge by teaching children and adolescents, but also to pass it on to other education professionals in schools. The intention is to spread positive values such as teamwork, communication, constructive feedback and respect, alongside modern methods and didactics in the field of non-violent education in Egypt.

With the support of the Egyptian Ministry of Education, our alumni have been able to carry their knowhow across the country: The graduates of our social training have travelled to over 18 governorates and introduced the “Fit for Life” and its associated “Children Embrace Diversity” training programme, reaching more than 9.000 school psychologists, social workers, teachers and over 250 parents and legal guardians. The trainings they conducted were tailored to the different target groups, making the information accessible to everyone in Egypt, regardless of their educational background.

Also our sports alumni have begun to tailor their P.E. lessons based on the violent-free methods and didactics studied in our workshops. Moreover, they organised sports-days under the theme of “Schools without Violence” to raise awareness on problems like bullying and violence. In addition, they used their capacity as certified trainers and passed on their expertise to at least 50 other P.E. teachers in eight Egyptian governorates.
