ORGANIZERS AND PARTNERS
EU4Dialogue - Component 3 is implemented by:
DAAD (Consortium lead), Goethe-Institut, Campus France, Brussels Diplomatic Academy, Smashing Times International Centre for the Arts & Equality, National Library of Latvia, Fundacja Rozwoju Systemu Edukacji and Deutsches Archäologisches Institut.

THEMATIC FOCUS:
City, Urban Space and Architecture

This year's edition of the academy takes the form of a communal space for exchange of knowledge about the city, urban spaces, and architecture that create environments for civic engagement and promote community integration. The 10-day cultural education program for participants from the South Caucasus and Republic of Moldova is organized by the Goethe-Institut Bucharest in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Georgia, in the frames of EU4Dialogue.

The EU4Dialogue academies have the form of a platform for horizontal knowledge exchange and developing ideas together. They offer a quality process, without the ambition to solve anything or produce a final outcome. Each participant, including the organisers and guest lecturers, both teach and learn, offer knowledge and experiences and learn from others, and together, in a dialogue, develop a shared understanding of matters at stake.

Taking place in Tbilisi, Georgia, the program will comprise four principal components:

Lectures and discussions:

There will be lectures held by local and international experts, while participants will engage in working sessions to discuss the following topics:
- architecture as connector - building spaces that connect communities, foster inter-cultural and inter-generational dialogue, between public and independent sectors.
- urban development as a democratic pillar (participation, engagement, empowerment)
- sustainability (culture and architecture as part of an ecosystem, ecological thinking in terms of sustainable social developments and partnerships etc.)
- architecture in the context of conflict
- cultural management approaches and cultural leadership strategies
- entrepreneurship, public and private funding
- strengthening Networks within Europe and among participating countries.

Architectural tours:

A careful selection of buildings, sculptures and monumental artworks that build a bridge between past and present and invites participants to explore the dialogue between historical significance and contemporary artistic interpretation. By taking participants through different eras and styles, the city icons tour offers a unique view of the urban landscape of Tbilisi and opens up new perspectives on the interplay of architecture, art and heritage.

Studio visits and archive access:

Insight into various architecture and artist studios, private architectural archives housed in both public and private spaces. Meetings with important initiatives, research projects and communities on the spot.

Residency-Opportunity as follow-up of the Academy:

Participants will have the chance to develop collaborative project ideas during the academy. Selected projects can be realized in the residency programme of EU4Dialogue, with full costs covered for participants.

The academy is offering the opportunity to learn from international trainers and to develop new skills, to share ideas through transversal networking with the aim of developing cross-sectoral innovation that will contribute to the sustainable development of the cultural sector.

Each participant will be both a learner and a teacher. If selected, you will be asked to contribute with examples from your professional practice in the framework of the academy. This can be a project you were involved in, or a project that you have been following. It can both be a good practice example or an experience that was challenging.

The aim of the EU4Dialogue Project is to provide participants with more space to develop new ideas and collaborate with other managers from other countries in the region. In this way, the CMA is aiming to establish a capacity-building model based on theory, practice, creativity and collaboration. Over 25 projects have been funded and implemented in the last 5 CMA editions in the project partner countries.

Guest trainers and speakers of the 6th academy will be announced soon!

We promote interdisciplinary collaborations and cross-border partnerships, supporting participants' efforts to implement the ideas and concepts discussed during the event into their cultural and community practices. Participants are not expected to address national or political questions that have led to conflicts in the recent past and instead to focus their exchange on professional co-operation and joint capacity building. Mutual respect in speaking and listening will be the core principle of the week.
