What are the technical requirements for the course?

- Mac, iPad, tablet, PC or laptop - Headset with microphone - Stable Internet connection (with WLAN with sufficient bandwidth) especially for virtual presence sessions. Here you can test if your internet connection is sufficient: speed-test for our online group course

How is the course taught?

Depending on your level, you will have the option to choose between: online lessons in ZOOM face-to-face lessons in institute blended learning 50%/50% format (classes will alternate between the Goethe-Institut and virtual via ZOOM).

How do the language course with virtual presence sessions work?

The teaching units, which are carried out using the Zoom conference tool, are strongly orientated towards our face-to-face courses. You will continue to practice all skills interactively with the other course participants and your teacher. You can do this conveniently from home and at the course days and times you have booked.

How do I get feedback from the teacher?

You acquire new language skills in all areas – listening, reading, writing and speaking – with a qualified teacher present at all times. You receive individual feedback from the teacher at regular intervals throughout the term, either online or face to face.

When and where can I get the ZOOM link for online lessons?

You will receive the ZOOM link and password no later than one day before the lesson by email from your teacher.

Do I have to buy course books or work books?

All the course materials you need for the blended Learning course are provided online free of charge.

How do I access the learning resources?

The course uses physical coursebooks and workbooks, which you are given by the Goethe-Institut once you have registered successfully. You will receive an email before the course starts, informing you when you can pick up the learning resources. The course fee includes learning resources.

How many course participants are there?

The general language courses for adults are attended by a number of participants. The group size varies from 10 to 16.

Our online group courses are for everyone who wants to learn German flexibly.
If you live far from the Goethe-Institut or you can't always come to the fixed dates, but would still like to learn German with a qualified provider, then our online group courses are right for you!
Reading, listening, writing and speaking - you train all four skills on the Goethe-Institut's learning platform under the supervision of an experienced tutor and in a virtual classroom via ZOOM.

Our ONLINE courseS A1-C2

These courses provide learners at levels A1-C2 with an additional exam preparation opportunity for our Goethe A1 – C2 certificates.

Test your german
If you already speak German, we offer you a free online placement test. We use this to gauge your prior knowledge, agree a learning goal with you and select a suitable course. If you have no prior knowledge, you automatically start at level A1.

This is how it works!

Learning platform
Learn independently with diverse learning materials based on everyday situations on our learning platform. You can organise the online tasks flexibly and receive feedback. For all language levels and requirements.

Support from the teacher
Your teacher introduces you to the conference tool and the learning platform. During the course the teacher gives you regular feedback. If you have questions of an administrative nature, you can contact our language course office at any time.

Online teaching in live sessions
Learn with your teacher and fellow students in virtual live sessions. We use the ZOOM conference tool, with which you can learn online in the same way you would in a face-to-face course. You get individual feedback from your teacher for speaking and writing exercises.
