Franco-German cooperation

Erbil

KultKino/CinéClub

On November 7, the Goethe-Institut Irak and the Institut Français d'Irak à Erbil invite you to the KultKino/Ciné Club at the French Institute in Erbil at 6 PM. The programme includes the French film ‘Tout le monde aime Jeanne’, which shows the humorous journey of a young woman. The film will be shown in its original language with English subtitles at the Institut Français d'Irak à Erbil.

Jazz in/à Erbil

For the sixth time in a row, the Goethe-Institut Irak and the Institut Francais d'Irak à Erbil are organizing Jazz in/à Erbil. The exchange between musicians from France, Germany and Iraqi Kurdistan will take centre stage. You can look forward to a Franco-German concert on November 14 and a Franco-German-Kurdish concert on November 17. Both concerts will take place in the Roshnbiry Hall in Erbil. Further information will be published on our Social Media channels.

Baghdad

Kafka-Exhibition

On November 8 at 6 PM the Goethe-Institut Irak invites to the opening of the "Kafka" exhibition in Baghdad, celebrating the significant impact of Kafka as a German-speaking writer of the twentieth century. In collaboration with the Al-Mada Foundation for Media, Culture and Arts and the Plastic Art Society Babylon, five Iraqi artists have created artworks inspired by Kafka’s work.

Erbil

Al-Mada Reading Club

On November 9, the Goethe-Institut Irak and al-Mada Reading Club invite you to the regular events of the reading club in Erbil. The event is a cooperation between the Goethe-Institut Irak and al-Mada Reading Club and takes place at 6 PM in the Café Nazdar Hayran in Erbil. The event will be held in Arabic.

Baghdad

Chai Talk

On Fridays, people interested in literature and culture come together on Mutanabbi Street in Baghdad. On November 15 at 11 AM, the Goethe-Institut Irak and the Mada Foundation invite you to the regular Chai Talk at Mutanabbi Street in Baghdad.

Duhok

Nuhat 2024

Nuhat brings together up-and-coming filmmakers from Iraq during the international film festival in Duhok (December 9-16) for workshops in the fields of directing, production, cinematography and script writing. Deadline for applications is November 9

Baghdad

Creative Writing Workshop

The Goethe-Institut Irak, in collaboration with the Al-Mada Foundation, invites female writers and authors to apply for a Women's Writing Workshop. This workshop offers a valuable opportunity to engage with experienced writers and create a short story that reflects the life and social experiences of Iraqi women. The workshop will take place end of November and last for one week and will be held in Arabic language. Deadline for applications is November 10
