Goethe Hall

This film is part of Artur Brauner‘s "Films Against Oblivion", which are screened from the 8th of February until the 15th of March 2019 in the Goethe Hall.

The film tells the story of the fate of Klaus Schneider, a real figure who caused a sensation in Europe as the clairvoyant and magician Jan Hanussen. His prediction of Hitler’s election victory in Berlin brings him to the attention of the Nazis. He makes a decisive mistake, however, when he predicts the burning of the German Reichstag. Hanussen is kidnapped and killed in the woods.

Director: Istvan Szabo, colour, 116 min., 1968
