Open Call

Materials of Life

We are glad to announce an open call for our project ‚Materials of Life‘. In a series of workshops, participants will learn how to engage pigments, designs, patterns, and supports (fibres, papers, textiles) that come from and respect nature. We seek artists who are willing to engage in the production of contemporary, original art pieces by making use of materials and techniques that may be regarded as “traditional”, “ancient”, and “typical” of the plural cultures of Myanmar. For artists residing in Myanmar, there is no age limit. We strongly encourage starting and mid-career artists to present an application. The workshops are free entry and compulsory to join the entire series. All the materials for the workshop will be provided.

Rethink Art Exhibition

The Myanmar Photo Archive's Rethink Art Exhibition at the Goethe-Institut Myanmar Auditorium, which ran successfully from January 15th to 30th, marked a significant milestone for us. This exhibition showcased various artworks created through an Open Call, inviting artists to reinterpret the photographic materials from the archive. The response was heartening, with approximately 40 daily visitors to the Myanmar Photo Archive's Rethink exhibition. The special talk show drew over 100 attendees, and nearly 300 people celebrated the exhibition at the opening ceremony. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who attended and supported the exhibition. Your presence and enthusiasm made this event a truly memorable and successful endeavour.
