Reinterpreting Myanmar’s Visual Culture: Two Years of Collaboration

We honor two years of collaboration between the Goethe-Institut Myanmar and the Myanmar Photo Archive. Archives in Focus, an international meeting for photography and visual culture, concluded on December 15th. It marked the final initiative of our project to reinterpret Myanmar’s visual culture through archival material.

Please be informed that the registration office's opening hours will be changed to the new schedule starting January 1, 2025.

Registration Office’s New Opening Hours:

  • Monday (11:00 am – 5:00 pm)
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (11:00 am – 4:00 pm)
(Closed on Thursdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays)

German Language Courses

Start learning the German language systematically at the Goethe-Institut Myanmar! Our German language courses are based on the six levels defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Our courses are thereby internationally recognized and comparable. Goethe-Institut Myanmar is offering online and in-person German language courses in January. The Goethe-Institut certificates are accepted worldwide as verification of your language capabilities. Goethe-Institut Myanmar is offering Goethe-Zertifikat exams in January. Registration is open from 13.01.2025 – 14.01.2025. Please check our schedule and register via info.language.mmr@goethe.de!

Library membership fees as of January 2025

We’re updating our membership fees starting January 1, 2025:
  • Local Residents: 60,000 MMK
  • Foreign Visitors: 120,000 MMK
Enrolled Goethe-Institut Course Participants are entitled to free library membership.

Please bring an ID card, Passport or valid Student Card for Registration. Come to the library and get our digital library card BibToGo now. The library team will also be happy to inform you during a personal visit.
