PR and Social Media Services for the project “African Feminisms – Rights, Representation and Resources”

Scope of work 40hrs/month (25%)

 

The Goethe-Institut requires PR and Social Media services on a freelance basis for the project “African Feminisms – Rights, Representation and Resources”, a project of the Goethe-Institut, supported by the German Federal Foreign Office, implemented under the House of African Feminisms. The Goethe-Institut is looking for a committed freelancer for PR and Social Media coordinator for the period from October 2024 until December 2026 for the regional project ‘African Feminisms - Rights, Representation and Resources’, funded by the German Foreign Ministry and implemented as part of House of African Feminisms project. The working time is 10 hours per week or a max. of 40 hrs per month.

THE PROJECT

The concept of the project ‘African Feminisms - Rights, Representation and Resources’ is based on the guidelines of German feminist foreign policy and aims to examine African feminisms on the continent and in Germany, to apply feminist practice in the form of qualification programmes and to open up new perspectives through thematic and artistic work. The project is an initiative of the Goethe-Institut project ‘House of African Feminisms’ and financed by the German Foreign Ministry.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conceptual development, editing and coordination of content for the ‘African Feminisms - Rights, Representation and Resources’ project for Social Media channels (Instagram, Facebook and x) 
  • Establishment and implementation of a Social Media strategy for dissemination of Calls for Proposals and other project related information to represent the project, considering sub-Saharan outreach (in at least two languages) 
  • Conceptualisation and implementation of different formats (posts, reels, takeovers etc) 
  • Establishment of Social Media and PR partnerships (Link-partnerships, content-sharing) in cooperation with the Project Coordinator 
  • Development of PR and communication strategy with the support of the Graphic Designer for the project, based on developed visual identity and target group of the project 
  • Writing and dissemination of Press Releases and other public communications 
  • Compiling of contact lists for Press organs through Goethe-Institut network in the region 
  • Collection and evaluation of user numbers in statistics and reports  

Requirements

  • Experience in Social Media, Communication and PR work. 
  • Experience working in the Cultural, Educational and/or civil society Sector.
  • Follow a feminist ethos. 
  • Flawless attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Ensure adequate work environment (internet, equipment etc.) in order to be fully operational.
