Soul kitchen
A comedy
As part of the culinary cinema, the Goethe-Institute Hanoi will be showing the film "Soul Kitchen" on 15th November 2018. The film tells the story of the same called restaurant, which is threatened to be closed.
The leading actor Adam Bousdoukos, who has worked with director Fatih Akin to write the script, used the plot for his own experience as the owner of the Greek tavern "Taverna". As a regular customer of this place, Fatih Akin can identify with the script. In the cast, many well-known faces from older Akin films are recognizable, such as Moritz Bleibtreu and Birol Ünel. The result was a heartbreaking, authentic film in the beloved hometown of Hamburg by Akin and Bousdoukos to produce, which focuses on family, friendship, love, loyalty and trust - but above all home!
Before the film found its way into German cinemas on 25th December 2009, it won the Special Prize of the Jury for its world premiere on 10th September 2009 at the 66th Venice Film Festival.
