Dee Marco

Dee Marco Dee Marco is a feminist teacher, writer and creative researcher. Her academic research largely pivots around grappling with the sensibilities of Rainbow nation people as is seen and represented in historical and contemporary cultural and artistic works. Her work is interdisciplinary and straddles traditional and creative practices. Dee engages with memory and trauma narratives of the everyday, mothering as labour practices of mapping and radical care, and on popular culture. Dee also works collectively on the following: transformation and diversity in education spaces; in a creative capacity on a podcast about contemporary projects of Black mothering and in a different creative capacity, on intersections of labour and radical care using art and making such work visible and accessible. Dee recently founded a creative research space called Mother.Lab in Johannesburg, in which the current project called House of Complaints is taking place. Marco lectures in the Department of Media Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand.
