5 Reasons to choose Recycled Wrapping Paper
Is recycled paper really better than virgin paper? In our 7th Advent calendar door we have listed five good reasons why you should choose recycled paper for your gift wrapping.
When buying wrapping paper, you can choose between virgin and recycled paper. Virgin paper is made from new wood fibers, while recycled paper is made from waste paper, meaning recycled paper fibers. Here are five reasons why it makes sense to choose recycled paper.
Five reasons why you should choose recycled paper
- Conservation of resources: Trees are usually cut down for the production of virgin paper. This leads to deforestation and loss of biodiversity. Recycled paper is made by reusing what has already been produced, thus avoiding deforestation.
- Saving water: Turning wood into paper requires a lot of water, especially to extract the fibers and for cleaning purposes. Less water is used in the production of recycled paper, reducing the strain on water resources.
- Less chemicals: Virgin paper requires the use of many chemicals to process the wood and bleach the paper. The production of recycled paper requires fewer harsh chemicals, which minimizes pollution.
- Energy savings: Recycled paper requires significantly less energy to produce than virgin fiber paper. This means less CO₂ emissions.
- Waste reduction: Recycled paper helps reduce paper waste. By reusing waste paper, landfills are relieved.
