BTO: Built-to-Owner - Diary Entries By Inanimate Objects (2022)
By Cass ZhengSmart technology has fundamentally changed the way we interact with each other on a daily basis. As social exchanges are increasingly online, can we imagine a future where technology supersedes the warmth from human interactions?
Exploring the future of one-person households, BTO: Built-to-Owner is a collection of short poems paired with illustrations that revolve around the relationships between four smart household items and their respective owners. It questions and reimagines the seemingly endless possibilities of technology, including becoming intuitive sources of emotional support, providing companionship.
BTO was selected as one of the winning works from the Culture | Smart City Global Open Call for Responses 2021.
