This was also the case for Lena, who never felt free at school and always rebelled against the rules of rural life. And for Hanil from Aachen, school was an annoying and completely pointless compulsory event. But they all didn't just want to do nothing, but to claim a future for themselves that was fun and meaningful.

who never felt free at school and always rebelled against the rules of rural life. And for
Hanil from Aachen, school was an annoying and completely pointless compulsory event. But they all
didn't just want to do nothing, but to claim a future for themselves that was fun and meaningful.
They are all part of a class at the School for Adult Education (SFE) in Berlin.
Since 1973, the SFE has existed as a grassroots democratic project: no director, no grades. The teachers are paid by the students, who vote together on all organizational issues.
The SFE is extremely successful and has made it to the top of the school competitions.
