The German rock band Feine Sahne Fischfilet has a political opinion and doesn't hide it. They clearly distance themselves from racism, sexism and homophobia.
The film focuses on the charismatic front singer Jan Gorkow, alias Monchi, and his childhood in the small town of Jarmen on the Baltic Sea in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The region is characterized by right-wing extremism and a broad hooligan movement. Jan Gorkow forms a political opinion early and is left-wing oriented, conflicts with parents and the state power follow.
After the release of their first album, the band realizes that they also seem to catch on with neo-Nazis. In order not to be taken in, they express themselves unequivocally and publicly against right-wing extremism. For several years, the members are monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution due to their anti-fascist activities. Driven by energetic music, the film follows the band members through the highs and lows of their musical career.
