Online screening of Natalia Sinelnikova’s award-winning debut feature

The German Film Office is pleased to present an online screening of Natalia Sinelnikova’s award-winning debut feature We Might as Well Be Dead. The film will be available for free streaming in the United States and Canada.
Register Security guard Anna and her 16-year-old daughter live peacefully in a high-rise famous for its carefully curated community at the edge of the woods. The anxiety of prospective new tenants indicates that this must be one of the few safe spaces left in an inhospitable world. To live here, shielded from the dangers that lure outside, is the goal. But when a tenant’s dog disappears, an irrational fear spreads through this would-be utopia with a view... A new vigilante group starts policing the community and closing in on its most vulnerable elements. Anna, whose daughter claims to possess an “evil eye” and has locked herself up in their apartment’s bathroom, sees her ability to keep her job and protect her family hanging by a thread.
