Luis Santos

Luis Santos (1993) is a Mozambican contemporary artist who graduated from the Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto, Portugal in 2016. Santos lectures at the Faculty of Arts of the Instituto Superior de Artes e Cultura in Mozambique. He is one of the winners of the third edition of the Paulo Cunha e Silva Award in 2023. The artist participated in several collective exhibitions inside and outside Mozambique, with emphasis on L'atelier 2017 in Johannesburg, South Africa, the exhibition “Pares” of the third International Biennial of Gaia in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal in 2019 and the Paulo Cunha e Silva Award, exhibition in Galeria Municipal do Porto in Portugal. The social and cultural context has served as a basis for thinking about the disharmony between human and nature, materialized through contrasting shapes, textures, colors and materials, enriched by games of rhythm and breaks in fluidity.
