The African Heritage Highway is an online library with open data/content generated by us, for us - data that accurately represents our cultural heritage, and can be accessed by anyone, anytime, anywhere!. 

The goal of the African Heritage Highway is to improve African cultural representation on digital platforms, including search engines.
 

One of the 5 problem statements for Hack Ur Culture is to build an open data resource library (African Heritage Highway) to discover African cultural heritage experiences.
 

There is currently an extreme lack of African cultural data online, and this is a means to crowdsource African cultural heritage data to empower the #HackUrCulture participants who will be building this African Heritage Highway.
 

We need the public to contribute to building this African Heritage Highway by sharing content/media (video/text/audio) related to African cultural heritage under the #HackUrCulture hashtag on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. 

This is how the challenge will work:

• Each day leading up to heritage day, 24 September 2020 will be dedicated to a specific category: e.g. idioms/phrases, stories, African games, songs, dances, books, praise/worship songs, Afro-Futurism, traditional clothing/accessories/hair, food/drink/culinary, etc.
• You will be required to submit any cultural heritage content related to the particular category using #HackUrCulture to social media platforms. 
• Submit and stand a chance to win exciting prizes and goodie bags.

This #AfricanHeritageHighway social media challenge is intended to be a fun nation building exercise to unify the continent through sharing and discovering African cultural heritage. Your submissions will be great contributions towards the African Heritage Highway.
