On Goethe Morph* Iceland
Closing Reflections

As we reach the end of Goethe Morph* Iceland and the end of 2022, we can reflect on the programme, the partnerships and the art that came together under the curators' provocation ‘How we always wanted to have lived’.

And now, with the last days of the exhibition at the Nordic House in Reykjavik, so too ends Goethe Morph* Iceland. The worthwhile exploration has allowed the Goethe-Institut a renewed presence in Iceland and offered our institution a platform to strengthen existing cultural ties while founding new relationships with partners, artists, and audiences. We hope that many of you reading this will have had the opportunity to engage with the programme, either live, or via one of the digital formats.

Goethe Morph* Iceland is not the beginning of a permanent presence for the Goethe-Institut in Iceland, but it does indicate our affection for the country and its culture as well as providing a basis for future programmes and partnerships. Although we do not yet know what will come next, we hope that like the morphing moss that covered all aspects of this programme, the Morph* will sprout anew, perhaps when and where it is least expected.
