Starting in the suburbs of Hà Nội in 2019, Pilgrim Raid, the artist name of producer Long Trần, first became known in the local noise and electronic music scenes. Initially influenced by hip hop producers like J Dilla and Flying Lotus, regular shows in Ho Chi Minh City and Hà Nội began to develop a distinct performance and recorded sound unique to Pilgrim Raid in Việt Nam.Textures reminiscent of James Ferraro and the hooky melodies of Animal Collective can be heard throughout his debut album “Anna Agenda”, layered with grand soundscapes and playful bursts of noise and rhythm. Long Trần later co-founded the experimental pop band Mona Evie where his lofi and psychedelic production can still be heard ringing.
