RESTORE - A River Back to Life

الجامعة والعامة

The Ganga river basin is not only home to twenty-five thousand animal and plant species, such as the Ganga River Dolphin, it also forms the spiritual and economic lifeline for almost half of India’s population. With increased pollution, the country’s greatest natural asset is at risk. Watch how farmers, wildlife advocates and government experts are teaming up to bring a river back to life. Namami Gange has been recognized as a World Restoration Flagship under the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. These initiatives represent Earth’s frontiers of hope, as countries agreed to a new Global Biodiversity Framework. Under the agreement, countries promise to protect 30% of the planet’s lands and seas, and bringing back 20% from degradation.
