The characterization of colour by Sir C V Raman, providing an insight into the identities of the scattering substance, was publicly announced on 28th February 1928. This was an investigation so strong and important - it won him the 1930 Nobel Prize for Physics - in record time of two years after it discovery – the first for any Asian scientist anywhere.
