Lucky Supper Club

Goethe-Institut Seoul

In September the “Lucky Supper Club” is once again inviting people to meet in a cozy atmosphere, eat together, exchange ideas and share the perspectives of others.

This time, the “Lucky Supper Club” is dedicated to the topic of alternative ways of living. What does it take for people to feel comfortable in their surroundings? How can contemporary cities and buildings be designed in a way that is not only functional, but also focuses on the well-being of their inhabitants? Are there ecological, economic or social aspects that should be considered during planning? And finally: What can we learn from the past and what can we improve in the future?

Sohyun Park and Eunji Kang have been invited to talk about livable, as well as sustainable design and about the surrounding aspects that are more important today than ever before.

As a professor of architecture and urban planning, Sohyun Park is dedicated to the topics of heritage conservation, pedestrian friendliness and community planning. She is currently working on a collaborative research project on a model for a livable housing estate that focuses on a healthy lifestyle and local supply chains.

Eunji Kang is the co-director of Darkmatter Labs Asia and Global, which focuses on the design of sustainable infrastructure, especially in times of social change, technological progress and the climate crisis.

The discussion will be moderated by Inkyu Lee. The writer has been working on the project “Goodbye, Dunchon Jugong Apartment” since 2013. As part of this project, she is researching the Dunchon Jugong apartment complex in Seoul, the largest of its kind in South Korea. Inkyu Lee deals with the topic not only from a historical perspective, but also from a personal one, as she herself was born and raised in the apartment complex.

The evening is part of the “Lucky Supper Club” event series.
