In this Zoom masterclass, poet and critic Michael Hofmann will dissect and explore the nuances of selected poems, inviting participants to engage in deep analysis and lively discussion. This interactive session will offer fresh perspectives on our theme “Living Water,” enriching your appreciation of poetry through collaborative interpretation.

Michael Hofmann was born in Germany, and grew up in England, Scotland, and the United States. He has published six books of poems, most recently One Lark, One Horse, and three books of criticism, most recently Messing About in Boats, his 2019 Clarendon Lectures. He has edited the Faber Book of 20th Century German Poems, and made personal selections from Robert Lowell, John Berryman and W.S. Graham. He has translated many books from the German, and taught for years at the University of Florida. In 2023, he was Seamus Heaney Visiting Poetry Fellow at Queen’s University, Belfast.
