Königskinder by Alex Capus. New members welcome!
ABOUT THE BOOK
When Max and Tina have to wait out the snow in their car on an Alpine pass, Max tells a story that begins right there in the mountains at the time of the French Revolution.
Jakob is a farmhand from the Gruyère region. When he falls in love with Marie, the daughter of a rich farmer, the farmer is horrified. He first sends the boy into military service and later as a shepherd to the court of Louis XVI, where he is so moved by Jacob's misfortune that Marie is also brought to Versailles.
Alex Capus masterfully interweaves the adventure of the poor cattle herder and the rich farmer's daughter with Max and Tina's night in the mountains. A captivating play between the centuries. Alex Capus' most beautiful love story since “Leon and Louise”.
