Hub for Artists from Sudan

The Goethe-Institut stands in solidarity with the striving artistic and cultural scene of Sudan. We therefore established the Hub for Artists from Sudan who are continuing their valuable work in Sudan, Egypt or other countries in the region. Operating out of Cairo, the hub supports individuals through six-month scholarships (June – Nov 2024) and cultural networks through community events and other activities. Please note the relocation should have been done within the last 6 month.

On the 15th of April 2023, the lives of millions in Sudan have changed drastically when an armed conflict erupted in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum and in many other parts of the country. Battles take place in usually lively neighborhoods and residential areas, countless of private homes and public spaces are looted and destroyed. Hundreds of thousands of people have therefore been forced to leave their homes for safer places. Heavily affected by the war are artists and cultural actors, cultural spaces and their networks.
