A ROVING ARTS PLATFORM
[re]present: by Contemporary Archive Project

3 April - 3 May 2023

A four-site public presentation of photographs made across KwaZulu-Natal (KZN)

[re]present aims to make accessible photographic and written work to areas outside of KZN’s major city centre and aims to touch on a number of lesser acknowledged aspects of photographic practice.

The project celebrates the power and potential of photography and written text through the exhibiting of works in a dynamic and engaging manner in the spaces where the images were created. [re]present acts as a catalyst for conversation and offers new ways of seeing familiar spaces through the lens of CAP’s photographers.

The photographic work will be accompanied by text, written in both English and isiZulu, giving context to the work displayed in the area in which it was made, and subsequently made accessible to the local community in each area.

The photographic and textual works are sourced from the Contemporary Archive Project’s ongoing archive of contemporary photography of the KZN province.
