Acoustic Ecology Lab

The Acoustic Ecology Lab is an interdisciplinary proposal that joins audiovisual arts and biological sciences through an ecological perspective of sound and space. The project aims to develop environmental sound art, considering biological species, their ecosystems, and the communities of which they are a part. The proposal divides into four stages with five main axes: training, research, production, and dissemination of the crossings between art and science in favor of the environment.

The lab takes part in a natural ecosystem in southern Mexico with a team-work made up of Tania Rubio, composer, and director of the project. Christina Kubisch, composer and sound artist. Sabine Vogel flutist and sound artist; Judith Egger, visual artist; Fernando Domínguez clarinetist and performer; Gilberto Ramírez music pedagogue; Mauricio de la Puente and Marina Rivero biologists. 

The team-work will lead a residency program with workshops for children and young people to produce art focused on environmental awareness. The results will present in Mexico and Germany.
