We fund translations of books featured on Litrix.de. Grants generally cover up to €5,000 in translation fees per book as well as 50% of the licensing fees.

  • Translation from the original German text
  • An agreement concluded by and between the German licensor and the foreign licensee as well as the translator of the work in question. Funding is not paid out until submission of the published translation.
  • The book must not be printed or published prior to the funding decision.
  • Publishers in Italian-speaking countries may apply for funding to translate any of the books featured on Litrix.de into Italian.
  • The translation must be from the German-language original.
  • The grant agreement must be concluded before the translation is printed.
  • The translations to be funded are selected by a panel of five literary experts from Germany and Italy. The grant will not be paid out until publication of the Italian edition. The grant does not cover costs of editing or printing the translation.
  • The foreign publisher must include mention of the Goethe-Institut and Litrix.de’s patronage as well as both printed logos on the copyright page.
