What’s with this decolonisation palaver?

Carola Lentz is an ethnologist and Senior Research Professor at the Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz. Since the 1980s she has chiefly concentrated on West Africa; the topics she works on are ethnicity, nationalism, colonialism, memory politics, and middle classes within the global South. She is a member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and of the Leopoldina (the German National Academy of Sciences). She has been President of the Goethe Institute since 2020.
For three decades Tahir Della has been a dedicated member of the Black Movement and an activist within the action group ISD (Initiative Schwarzer Menschen in Deutschland - ‘Action Group of Black People in Germany’). As a member of the ISD board (up to 2019) and as Press Spokesperson he was involved in the coordination of both local and countrywide campaigns. He has been on the board of ‘Decolonize Berlin’ since 2019. For many years he has also been active in the political education.
Vivian Perkovic is a journalist with a particular interest in music, culture, society and politics. She attended university in Hamburg, and gained her practical training at the TV and radio station SWR (‘Südwestrundfunk’). She works as an editor, writer, reporter and presenter in Cologne, Berlin, Belgrade and New York.
Vivian Perkovic has presented 3Sat’s daily show ‘Kulturzeit’ since 2017, and she and her team were awarded the German Television Prize in 2022 in the ‘Best information’ category.
