Launched in 2021, EU4Culture is a four-year project funded by the European Union to assist cities in the Eastern Partnership (EaP) region in developing and implementing their Cultural Development Strategies following the model of the European Capitals of Culture. The project is implemented by Goethe-Institut (Lead), Czech Centers, Danish Cultural Institute, and Institut Français de Géorgie.
EU4Culture has provided financial and technical support to 14 regional cities in the Eastern Partnership countries. Twelve of them received additional assistance to implement their strategies. Consequently, the Regional Cities Network of the 14 municipalities, are now supporting the development of decentralised cultural and creative industries with new opportunities.
Additionally, EU4Culture is funding 20 Cultural and Cross-Innovation projects of artists and cultural professionals. The creative initiatives are implemented in one or several cities within the Regional Cities Network and complement their Cultural Development Strategies.
More than 390 creatives from the Eastern Partnership countries have also been provided with mobility grants. With the support package, they travelled to Europe to expand their professional networks and gain new knowledge. With the intellectual capital gained from their mobility projects, the grantees are on the forefront of advancing the decentralised cultural and creative industries in their countries.
