“Ticket nach Berlin” Nominated for Grimme Online Award

(22 May 2014) More than 130,000 people watched the videos and now Ticket nach Berlin was also a hit with the jury of the Grimme Online Award, which nominated the project for this year’s coveted prize. From over 1,300 proposals submitted, the jury selected 23 online videos including this collaboration between the Goethe-Institut and Deutsche Welle. The award ceremony will be held in Cologne on 27 June.

What keeps the land of allotment gardens and onion tarts ticking? How does the post reach remote North Sea islands? What else is there to discover between the mudflats and Zugspitze? Ticket nach Berlin explored these questions, as the Goethe-Institut and Deutsche Welle sent six young language learners from Australia, Spain, Cameroon, Norway, Russia and Egypt off on a wild scavenger hunt. Destination: Berlin. Modes of transport: Tractor, funicular, soapbox car. Always at their sides: a camera crew. The students’ journeys were recorded in 18 videos and published every week on the Internet before January 2014.

In addition to the actual Grimme Online Awards for various categories, there is also an audience award. Internet users can vote for the nominated websites they like best online. So, if you enjoyed Ticket nach Berlin, too, please cast your vote for the project!
