Mr Bachmann and his Class
HERR BACHMANN AND HIS CLASS portrays the relationship between a teacher and the students of a 6th grade class in Stadtallendorf in the German state Hesse. With an engaging openness, Mr. Bachmann encounters the children with their different social and cultural experiences and thus creates a space of trust. Music is an omnipresent language here, which naturally surrounds the subject matter to be completed. Based on the social relationships in the class, the film casually tells of the structures of a small, West German industrial city whose history has been shaped by migration back to the Nazi era.
The new documentary by the Berlin director Maria Speth (MADONNEN, 9 LEBEN) celebrated its world premiere in the international competition of the 71st Berlinale 2021.
