Short Film Klinik

The Goethe-Institut and the Red Sea Film Festival, in cooperation with the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg, Ludwigsburg (Germany), organized a unique three-part scriptwriting clinic that leads to the production of two final films in the category Live Action Short Film. With a strong focus on research, the workshop sought emerging filmmakers and scriptwriters with intermediate or advanced experience.
The eleven selected participants reside in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Germany. There are over seven different nationalities present in the cohort. All participants were selected on the excellent basis of their motivation letter, script or treatment, CV, and portfolio.
Workshops took place on the following dates and places:

December 2-6, 2022, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia,
during the Red Sea Film Festival

February 12-16, 2023, in Ludwigsburg
and 18 – 21 with participation at the Berlinale

May 1-5, 2023, in the UAE and online
On May 5th, the winners and awards were announced by the international jury, consisting of producers, actors and directors.

Filmakademie Scholarship Award

SPECIAL GRANT IN MEMORY OF THE LATE FAREED MAJARI, who initiated the SHORT FILM KLINIK in 2022. It consists of free participation (tuition waiver) in the International Class (ICLA), running from April thru August 2024

Winner: “AS THE SNOW MELTS” by Hind Anabtawi

ARRI Award:

A grant of 5,000.00 euros in cash to support the implementation of the visual concept for the project. The grant can be used in a supportive manner for the rental of camera/lens and/or lighting equipment as part of the principal photography for the project.
ARRI is a leading designer and manufacturer of camera and lighting systems for the film, broadcast, media, and entertainment industries, with a worldwide distribution and service network.
