Sheroes In Games

sheroesingames

Videogames are very popular with girls and boys alike, but when it comes to the production of digital games, the percentage of women involved is quite low. With the project Sheroes in Games - Girls designing digital games: networking, training, advocacy, we aimed at getting girls excited about developing computer games at an early stage and to support and qualify them.

About the project

As part of the project, we produced and compiled training and advocacy materials, and we conducted workshops and game jams in order to apply and test the materials. The training and advocacy materials are accessible in the form of a wiki; it’s expansion by the interested community is very welcome.

To this end, we work together with players, institutions and initiatives from Latin America and Germany that are active in the field of promoting girls and young women in the field of the creation of digital games.

Together, we are thus aiming at better opportunities for girls in order to reach a higher proportion of women in the computer games industry and thereby contribute to more diversity in computer games.

Sheroes in Games was a project by the Goethe-Institut in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru as well as Venezuela.

It is funded by the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Role Models

We have asked outstanding women from the gaming scenes of various countries in South America and Germany about how they came to work in the video game industry, what exactly their fields of activity are and what fascinates them about it. Check out their statements and get inspired!
