About Ilker Çatak:
Ilker Çatak was born in 1984 in Berlin and studied Film and TV directing in Berlin and Mittwedia. Since 2012, he has been a post-graduate student at the Hamburg Media School. He has directed several commercials and short films When Namibia Was A City, Old School, Where We Are(2014), and Fidelity. His film Once Upon A Time In Indian Country(2017) was selected for Filmfest Hamburg. I Was, I Am, I Will Be(2019) won the award for best actor at Filmfest Munich. One of his works is Stambul Garden(2020). His latest film is The Teachers‘ Lounge(2022)

Synopsis:
For a man on the verge of poverty in a third-world country, a migrant-worker visa can often be a lifeline. But Abdur Rouf must patiently wait for this change of fate, as a visa to Italy is not guaranteed for someone of his stature. Living in a chaotic, bustling, and unforgiving city can be claustrophobic and Rouf resorts to canvassing on buses just to support his family. In addition to his financial constraints, Rouf’s major disappointment lies with his wife not being able to bare children till now. But despite a gloomy and unpredictable future, Rouf continues to look for a turning point in his life – a break from this monotony and dullness, which seems to have encapsulated him. Things finally start looking up for Rouf when positive news arrives within the family – but so does news about the outcome of his visa application. Rouf, still unsure about the future of his family, sits in a crowded waiting room to discover his fate.
About Ariq Anam Khan:
Ariq Anam Khan, is a versatile writer, director, and producer from Bangladesh. Born into a culturally renowned family in Dhaka, he has been working in Bangladesh‘s theatre, film and television industry since 2008. Ariq has also worked as a location manager in several international productions shot in Bangladesh. He completed his degree in the highly rated MA Filmmaking programme at the London Film School in 2019 with distinction. In 2020, Ariq Anam Khan released his award-winning short film "Transit", which has screened in competition at festivals such as Busan and Clermont-Ferrand. Transit was also the first Bangladeshi film to be selected at 4 Academy Qualifying Festivals. In 2022, Ariq travelled to Los Angeles (USA) to be part of the prestigious Global Media Makers fellowship for the development of his first feature called The Fallen Star.
