Ana Paula dos Santos is an artist born in Santos/Brazil. She lives in Frankfurt am Main and studies Fine Arts at the Städelschule in the class of Willem de Rooij. She studied cultural anthropology and human geography at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and with her artistic practice and research, she engages in critical,decolonial, post-colonial and identity debates. Dos Santos works with photography,installation and videos. Metaphors and symbols are very present in her work.

Her last institutional work was a photographic intervention in the permanent collection of the historical museum in Frankfurt am Main and pointed out racist elements and images in the collection of the museum. The name of this project is „Change of view – Tracing Racism (2022). Dos Santos co-curated this intervention with a group of BIPoC artists based in Germany. Some of her photographic work became part of the collection of the historical museum in Frankfurt am Main afterwards. In the same year she was with The Städellschule and Professor Willem de Rooij in Ghana to exchange art experience with the art collective blaxTARLINES in the department of Painting and Sculpture at Knust, Kumasi. She was shorlisted in 2022 to the Wi Di Mimba Prize of the Savvy Comtemporary and AKB Stftitung for artists of color in Germany and she is a member of the artist and architect collective Commune 6x3. The next show of Ana Paula dos Santos will be a group show in May 2024 with tha name „City of Women Photographers“, Frankfurt 1844-2024“ in the historical museum in Frankfurt am Main.
