TITEL | Ma passion perdue (Novel) |
ZUSAMMENFASSUNG | Binta is a lover of literature and philosophy. In form four (grade nine), she was one step away from achieving her wildest dreams – which is to study literature - and hoped to enrol in the arts series the following year. Unfortunately for her, her parents had other plans. They harboured greater ambition for her: to enrol her in a medical school so that her family would be ranked among the elite. After running out of ways to make her parents understand her, Binta’s high hopes were shattered... Ma passion perdue expounds on the issue of choosing a profession for passion vs. money in our society. Many parents do attempt to redeem broken dreams through their children. However, forcing your child into a particular profession kills genius, destroys dreams, shatters passion and condemns the child to a mundane existence. |

TITLE | Pour que l’Afrique décolle (Essay) |
SUMMARY | From time immemorial, Africa has been awakened to the realities of its haunted past; A depraved and touching history which, even today, Africa is yet to give a wide berth to the overwhelming scuffles and demons. A history that is both murky and moving, that captures and exhilarates our consciences, although, deep down in our troubled souls, we long to turn a new leaf, cross over to the other shore, where there is a myriad of brighter and more refreshing colours. |
ABOUT THE AUTHOR | Djomeni Davy Gaël is an energetic and versatile young Cameroonian. He is an academic, a PhD student in management science, an entrepreneur and a writer. As he himself points out, he only indulges in what he loves and is passionate about; and in this case, literature is his first love. Davy has an unbounded passion and fondness for Africa; the continent where he was born. Barely in his thirties, he already has a track record of literary publications to his name, the most recent of which is the Essay, titled, Pour que l’Afrique décolle. This Essay is one of the award-winning essays published by Seguima Publishing as part of its call for essays for 2021. And even so, Davy's wild imagination, flute-like pen and relentless desire to contribute his own quota: he still strongly denounces the ills plaguing his country and his continent. |
