Vernissage and exhibition by the winner Lauriane Yougang as part of the Goethe-Découverte Visual Arts 2023 platform

For Lauriane Yougang, art is a matter of perception, an inner journey that questions our realities, our dreams and our states of mind. It's a place for sharing, where torments find rest, comfort and soothing. Lauriane is a ceramist and painter who lives and works in Yaoundé. She is studying for a master's degree in visual arts at the University of Yaoundé I. Her mixed media is somewhere between multimedia and intermedia. She works in ceramics, acrylic on canvas, beading and weaving. Her paintings are often made up of reliefs of beads that reveal several types of lines and concentric circles. Her art, which promotes African women in cold, vivid tones, is also a critique of the phallocratic system in which they are trapped. Without departing from these themes and techniques, PRISES AU PIÈGE is an artistic project that blends figuration and abstraction to tell the story of the artist's fears, but also those of her sisters. Through painting, sculpture, installation and performance, she will also take us to the heart of her nostalgia. This project offers the public an immersive experience, a moment of escapism in which we forget the daily ups and downs of life.

The exhibition will take place from the 2nd to the 30th December 2023 from 10AM to 6PM everyday (except Sundays and Mondays).
