Liliana Angulo Cortés
Road to the Sea

Visual artist from the National University of Colombia, with a Master's degree in Arts from the University of Illinois in Chicago. Her ample path includes individual and collective exhibitions in Colombia, and the development of projects, residencies, and exhibitions in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Caribbean. In her work, she investigates the body and images based on issues of gender, ethnicity, language, history, and politics. Her commitment to communities of African descent has led her to explore issues of representation, identity, race and power. Angulo Cortés works from the basis of performance practices, cultural traditions, historical reparation issues, and direct collaboration with social organizations in the African diaspora. Based on research and interdisciplinary issues, she develops her production in media such as sculpture, performance, sound, intervention, installation, photography, and video. This artist has also served as a curator, researcher, educator, manager, administrator, and creator. In 2015, she founded the Aguaturbia Collective with a group of artists of African descent in Bogotá.
