Lucrecia Martel is an Argentinian filmmaker of wide international renown. Her filmography has been honored at the most important film festivals in the world. She has also participated as a jury in the Cannes, Venice, Sundance, Berlin, and Havana competitions, among others. Her style and work have been analyzed in numerous books and publications, and she is considered an indispensable author for world cinephiles. Her most recent film, Zama (2017), a co-production of 10 countries inspired by the novel of the same name by Antonio di Benedetto, was acclaimed by the critics and audience at the 74th International Film Festival in Venice. The film obtained numerous awards and was nominated as Best Ibero-American Film at the Goya and Platino awards, as well as being the Argentinian candidate for the Oscar awards. Parallel to her film work, Lucrecia Martel holds a series of workshops and master classes that seek to question our perception and its limitations in order to generate new tools that enable us to think about cinema and the world. In addition, she has worked in institutions such as CalArts, UCLA, Cambridge University, and the Doha Film Institute.
