Does the course include a Goethe exam?

No, the German Online for Teens course does not include an exam. However, your child will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course, provided that at least 70% of the live sessions have been attended. If you are also interested in taking an exam for a Goethe-Zertifikat, you can find more information here .

Do you also offer private lessons for teenagers?

You can find information about private lessons on our website Deutsch Einzelunterricht | Goethe-Institut Deutschland . Please use the form behind the booking button to contact us. We will be happy to inform you about the possibilities of private lessons for teenagers.

I am 17 years old. Can I still take part in the course?

Occasionally we can also welcome 17-year-olds to the course. If you are interested, please send an e-mail to doj@goethe.de.

I am younger than 12 years old. Can I still take part in the course?

Unfortunately, we cannot welcome children and young people under the age of 12 on the course. We can make an exception for children who are 11 years old at the start of the course. If you are interested, please send an e-mail to doj@goethe.de.

Is the course also suitable for absolute beginners?

Yes, our A1.1 level is suitable for absolute beginners with no previous knowledge. With the help of universal forms of communication such as pictures, gestures and facial expressions, your child will learn German step by step. Previous knowledge of other languages such as English is not essential.

Would you like to learn German or improve your German? Would you like to learn German with other young people from all over the world? If you are between 12 and 16 years old, then we have something for you: Our German Online for Teens course! Learn German or improve your knowledge of German at the A1, A2, B1 or B2 language level with the support of highly qualified teachers with native German or comparable skills.

How does the German Online for Teens course work?

Free Placement Test
Depending on the test result from our free placement test, your child will be assigned to the appropriate level.

Procedure
The German Online for Teens course runs parallel to school teaching, lasts 20 weeks and comprises 80 lessons. That means that your child will have 4 German lessons per week.

Course participants meet their fellow learners and the teacher every Monday and Wednesday for 2 virtual lessons via Zoom.

What does German Online for Teens include?

The course German Online for Teens is divided into chapters that cover current and everyday topics and teach you the vocabulary and grammar you need to understand them.

Excercises
The participants will study along with a wide range of exercises, e.g. videos, images, audio files, reading texts and cloze texts both alone and in groups. They will also work on exercises to be submitted to their teacher (e.g. longer writing tasks), which will then be checked and sent back with detailed, individual feedback. This is how the learners practice listening, reading and writing. Speaking will be practiced specifically in the live sessions.

Questions
In case of questions, the participants can exchange ideas via the forum or contact their teacher by email.

Material
All course material is provided digitally and is included in the course price.

Levels offered

The number of lessons that are usually required to reach a certain level and take the corresponding Goethe certificate are based on experience. Individual aspects such as language learning experience and native language also play an important role. We will grade you before the start of the course in order to ensure optimal learning success.
