Samah

Trainer-Tandems 2019 - Samah © Anis Roger, Goethe-Institut The reason why I applied for the “Training of Instructors” is to become an expert in this field of civic education. I would like to build the capacity of trainers working in this field of civic education in the Delta region of Egypt where I live. My main area of interest is gender equality and gender related issues. So, I was really motivated to develop my competencies in this field to be able to create a network of gender trainers.

What does civil society education mean for...

Samah

Civic education means to me a way of exploring myself more, appreciating the diversity represented by others and then having a deep look at the system as a whole that governs our lives. Only then a desired change can take place.

Shaimaa

Civic education is a form of non-formal education aiming at creating a safe space that fosters collective learning processes. Gender, identity and power structures are topics and concepts that are the heart of civic education.
