Aino Korvensyrjä is a social scientist and migrants’ rights campaigner, based in Berlin and Helsinki.
Aino Korvensyrjä's work addresses mobility justice issues. Her ongoing doctoral research looks at how legal violence affects failed asylum seekers in Germany. Together with West African refugee activists residing in Germany, she publishes the blog Culture of Deportation (cultureofdeportation.org) which documents police and other state violence within the German asylum system and the EU border regime from the perspective of migrants’ knowledge. She is involved in anti-racist trial monitoring and campaigns against police violence in Germany as well as in migration justice networking in West Africa.
