Residencies

Taking up a residency can be one of the most inspiring and rewarding opportunities for cultural practitioners and artists. Our residency programmes focus on professional development, artistic exchange and facilitating artistic research and processes. We believe conceptualising and making new work in a different location and context nurtures creative thinking, promotes experimentation and offers new perspectives. Residencies provide opportunities to collaborate with others, allowing artistic practices to develop and thrive. We work across various artforms including dance, visual arts, music, technology, theatre, journalism.

Here you can find our current residencies.

Goethe-Institut London and English PEN Residency

Since 2022, the Goethe-Institut London and English PEN have been partnering on a residency programme for international writers. We have supported respite residencies through English PEN’s Writers at Risk Programme, providing authors with the time, space, and funds to relax and work on their own projects. We have also supported broader writing residencies, hosted as part of English PEN’s Literature Programmes.
